Everything you need to find it, gather it, and prove it.
Sightline 365 has grown from a simple SharePoint search tool into a full desktop toolkit for finding content across Microsoft 365 and delivering it somewhere useful — reliably, at scale, with a trail to prove what happened. Here's everything that's in the box today.
One search, three surfaces.
Search SharePoint, OneDrive, and mail side-by-side from a single query, or run each pillar on its own with full query control.
SharePoint content search
Tenant-wide search via the same index that powers the suite bar, driven by a structured query builder — no KQL required. Hits return title, path, author, size, and modified date.
OneDrive search
Full KQL-parity search across your own OneDrive via the Microsoft Search API — the same filtering power as SharePoint, scoped to personal files.
Mail search
Search mailboxes by subject, sender, recipient, and date range via Microsoft Graph. Preview the message, then pull the attachments, the message, or both.
Unified Dashboard search
Pool a single phrase across all three pillars at once. Results come back deduplicated and ranked together, ready to select and act on as one batch.
Saved searches, shareable as JSON
Save a query once and re-run it any time. Export a saved search to a portable JSON file and hand it to a teammate — or import theirs — without re-building filters from scratch.
CSV / bulk term input
Paste a list of custodian names, ticket numbers, or part references straight from a spreadsheet. Sightline compiles the whole list into one compound query automatically.
Turn hits into a finished hand-off pack.
Finding the files is half the job. Sightline copies, zips, or packages them into something the next person can actually use.
Metadata-safe library copy
Copy matched files into a target SharePoint library with Author, Created, and Modified preserved exactly. Existing files are skipped automatically, not silently overwritten.
Destination folder templating
Choose how copied files land: flat, by source site, by date, by file type, or by author — so a 2,000-file batch arrives already organised, not dumped into one folder.
Direct-to-ZIP export
Download the actual bytes straight into a local .zip — no destination library required. Works across SharePoint, OneDrive, and mail, including a cross-pillar export with pillar subfolders in one archive.
Signed evidence bundle
Package a completed run into one defensible .zip: a manifest with a SHA-256 hash of every entry, an RSA-2048 signature, the outcomes as CSV and raw JSON, and a verification public key — ready to hand to counsel or an auditor.
Big batches don't need babysitting.
Sightline is built for the run that has 4,000 items in it, not just the demo with ten. Throttling, crashes, and half-finished jobs are handled, not just hoped against.
Adaptive concurrency governor
Worker count scales up and down automatically against SharePoint's and Graph's live throttle signals — no manual concurrency tuning, and no hammering a tenant into a 429 storm.
Resumable runs
If the app closes, the laptop sleeps, or a run is interrupted partway through, Resume picks up exactly where it stopped — only the unfinished items re-run. Nothing already copied is repeated.
Retry-only-failures triage
When a batch finishes with a handful of failures, retry just those — not the whole run. Failed items keep their own error detail so you know what to fix first.
Memory-bounded streaming transport
Large files are streamed in bounded chunks on both the download and upload side, not buffered whole into RAM — a handful of parallel multi-gigabyte transfers won't spike memory.
Destination pre-flight write-probe
Before a batch starts, Sightline confirms it can actually write to the target library and surfaces a clear error immediately — instead of discovering a permissions problem 40 files in.
Live transfer stats
Real-time MB/s, ETA, and a per-pillar progress breakdown while a dashboard run is in flight, so you know whether to wait thirty seconds or step away for coffee.
Triage before you commit to a copy.
Decide what belongs in the pack without leaving the results list — preview content, see when things happened, and track your own notes alongside the data.
Preview panel
Side-rail metadata plus a byte-level peek at text and CSV content for the focused result — sanity-check a file before it goes in the pack.
Timeline histogram
A visual histogram of when results were modified or received sits above the list, auto-bucketed by day, week, month, quarter, or year. Click a bar to filter the set instantly.
Participants panel
See the top authors, senders, and recipients in your current result set at a glance, and click any one of them to filter the list down to just their content.
Per-hit review notes
Attach a note to any individual search hit as you triage — kept locally alongside the run so your reasoning travels with the evidence, not just in your head.
Mail attachment extraction
Pick exactly what a mail copy pulls in: the message only, the attachments only, or both — a 3-mode picker instead of an all-or-nothing export.
Licensing, auditability, and native Microsoft auth.
Sightline runs on the reviewer's own desktop and talks directly to Microsoft Graph — nothing routes through a third-party cloud, and every run leaves a trail.
Native Microsoft sign-in
Authentication is Microsoft OAuth 2.0, delegated. Your tenant's MFA and Conditional Access policies apply exactly as they do for Outlook or Teams — if your policy says no, Sightline can't either.
Per-device licensing
Each install registers as a device against your licence, with seats enforced server-side. Manage every active device from Settings — release a seat yourself when you retire a laptop, no support ticket required.
Durable audit trail
Every copy and export writes a machine-readable JSON record — pillar, target, per-item outcomes, byte counts, retry counts, duration — independent of whether anyone remembers to export a CSV.
Dashboard recent-runs & resume history
The Dashboard surfaces your last several runs and any incomplete ones at a glance, with one click through to the destination or straight into Resume.
Automatic updates
New builds roll out to installed desktops automatically — no manual reinstall cycle to keep a whole team current.
